So You Think You're Crafty -week 6

So, as you probably already know -I won last week's challenge on So You Think You're Crafty with this baby right here:

My T-Rex cake!  And I'm proud of it too -it's one of the coolest cakes I've made yet, hands down.

Anyway, this week's challenge is up now.  The theme was Out and About.  So head over there and VOTE!

But on another note, I just wanted to give you a head's up.... I have been BUSY and so I have decided to just do minimal posts for now.  I will not be posting much until AT LEAST after I am done on So You Think You're Crafty.  But in all likelihood I will not be doing much posting until after Chloe's surgery is over.

We have had lots of appointments, my brother's family is in town (haven't seen them in over 2 years) and my kids have been sick.  And we are still playing the waiting game, waiting to hear back about a finalized surgery date so we can plan our trip to Drumhellar too.  We are hoping to make the trip the week before surgery -but everything is up in the air.  And I'm stressing HARD with all of the uncertainty of it!

I know I have promised tutorials for The Map and the Ruffle Skirt.  And I WILL get them up, it just might take me awhile.  Thank you for being patient and understanding.  Again, I am really sorry I have been so unreliable of late.  Please continue to bear with me.  Thanks.

So You Think You're Crafty Week 5 Polls are Open!

I had an extremely busy week this week, but now it's finally over and I can breathe again.  I had to prepare a talk to give in church yesterday, a baby shower to attend, a cardiology appointment for Hailey (which went VERY well -we don't have to go back for 9 months now!), a party, and company for supper one day,.... it was CRAZY!

But now here we are at week 5 of So You Think You're Crafty!  The theme this go around is Let's Hear It For The Boys.  I had soooo much fun with this one.  But anyway, I won't give it away which one is mine....

Head on over and VOTE VOTE VOTE!

SYTYC week 4 -Ombre Crafts

I managed to pull through last week's voting and am glad to say I'm back to So You Think You're Crafty for another week.  Yay!  This week's theme is Ombre (which, honestly, I had to ask what it was because apparently I'm not up on trends.... I had no idea what Ombre meant).  Hope you can pop on over to VOTE -hopefully for me ;)

Remember, voting ends Thursday night.

And thanks for all your votes and support in previous weeks.  You guys are awesome!

Foodie Friday #41 - Honey Chicken and Veggie Kabobs

It has been so HOT here (like humidex of 42 degrees celsius), so I had no desire to turn on the oven.  Instead I made these amazing Honey Chicken Kabobs with veggies.  I found the recipe on Pinterest, but adapted it a bit.  I made the sauce pretty much the same, just added some garlic powder.  And I used red, orange and yellow peppers, onions, mushrooms and grape tomatoes for the veggies.  Although I would skip the grape tomatoes next time.  They cooked way too fast so they were squishy by the time the chicken was done.

They turned out great.  I love the sweet flavor of the honey marinade.  Yum! Definitely a keeper.  You should give it a try -you won't regret it.  Have a great weekend, everyone!

My Summer and SYTYC Week 3 - Summer Bounty

As hard as it is to believe, it's the dawn of a new week!  July is flying by too fast for me.

Here are some of the things we have been doing this summer.

Playing 21 (basketball) with friends at a bonfire.  I totally beat all of them, too, by the way.  Not that I'm bragging or anything ;)

Playing on the trampoline

Looking cute.... and

another photo of the bonfire.  So fun!

But a new week also means a new crafty challenge at So You Think You're Crafty!  This weeks poll is now open.  So hop on over and vote -but remember polls close on Thursday night.  The theme this week is Summer Bounty.  What a great theme for July!

What have you all been doing with your summer holidays?

SYTYC Repurposed Week

I realize I still haven't posted my project from the first week's challenge, but I promise to get on that soon and post a tutorial for my Dora Map soon.

By now you probably already know which project was mine this last week at So You Think You're Crafty.... but here's a photo, just in case.

I have a whole bunch of these laundry tins that I have been hoarding saving.  I had put them to good use in organizing my craft supplies in my craft cupboard, but they are not much to look at.  I used my hot glue gun to add some designs and then spray painted them all in white and purple.  They look a lot prettier now, don't you agree?

Foodie Friday #40 - Tomato Cheese Shells

Well, I'm a day late, but better late than never, right?  Happy Foodie Friday, everyone!

So this one might be a bit trickier.... I don't actually have a recipe for it.  One night Paul and I just kind of made it up -and now it's one of his favorite go-to dinner ideas.

Cook up some shell shaped pasta (other kinds work too, but we like shells for this).  Drain that and set aside.  In a pot mix 2 cans condensed tomato soup and 1/2 to 3/4 cup milk on medium heat until combined.  Add a couple handfuls of grated cheddar (we like medium) and about 1/2 cup grated parmesan.  Then add spices to your liking.  I usually do black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, basil, parsley, and oregano.  Stir until heated through and the cheeses are melted.  Add the pasta and stir. In this photo I cut up some fresh chives from the garden and added it as a garnish -DELICIOUS!
